no, i think taht we wouldn't MIND if CL had a skippable story, but we would be furious if it were non-skippable, adn we really wouldn't care if it weren't there... at least that's me. Isn't that what he said? Yan, ltar, and I all agree.

well a skippable story line would definatly boost the gameplay and possibly an ending cutscene to explain more and possibly make way for another crimsonland. like what damocles said aobut half life. also if you wanted to make the game more realistic by the avatar (god in human form) saying some odd catchphrases to make the avatar seem more alive

or maybe its an alien invasion. the normal human on the brink of destruction fighting on the last four planets controlled by humanity. the lush green fields of earth, the dustly plains of mars, the desolate moons of jupiter and the dead icy platau of neptune. the human scientist have created an elite solder who has a mastery in all areas of combat and can quickly improvise in any hazordas situation. however there is more. with each kill it unlock hidden powers inside him causing him to more step by step closer to what he truly is. an avatar ( god or spirit of war in earthly form). a pritty simple story and a good enougth reason to kill hordes of aliens. the spiders are simple back wash of human attempts to kill the aliens via fusion bombs. the lizards the same. and the dead is what happens to humans who feel the wrath of the aliens.

I reckon an end cutscene would be cool. Yes, I want a skippable cutscene. It would be cool if the ending changes the more points you get, or maybe some sort of rank system, and you can only see an ending if you start from the start and work your way through in one go. Like, you have the option to choose any level but if you do you lose your ending progress. Anyway, I stopped making sense after the third sentence, anyone else want to try to summarise whatever it is I'm on about? Anyone here played doukutsu monogotari? it's pretty much what I mean

I reckon the best way to go with the storyline is some sort of sick alien gameshow like smash tv, the prize at the end is your life and your memories. lol, that game sucked.

the idea of more points better end scene i like. thats like red faction 2 That's what I was thinking. Your "karma" will effect the ending. Something like that? I don't mind the cutscene at the end, so long as it's the only one, and it doesn't show the troopers face.

I reckon if we go with a gameshow it should be like this: the ending, that is 0-10 = rank
0 - Worthless coward it shows the sillouette of a soldier walking across a plain dripping blood, he reaches a mysterious house and falls before he reaches it, he is then swarmed by aliens
1 - Weakling same as 0 but he makes it to the house and starts hammering on the door screaming, the monsters then rip him apart
2 - Life worthy (I don't know why it changes to first person but it does) same as 0 but you get into the house by smashing the door down, Although the room is empty and you get killed by the monsters
3 - Bloody soldier same as 2 but instead of being killed you take the pain and punching monsters out as you go you make it back out through the door and arrive in a large plain, you then bleed to death and fall. You are then swarmed by the monsters and eaten.
4 - Skilled grunt When you get to the field you keep running and reach a large cave, you run inside, the 'camera' doesn't follow. An ear peircing scream comes out and it fades to black
5 - Courageous fighter You reach the cave with monsters hot on your tail, you stop and turn back, you see a sparkle and run to it. You don't have much time, it's a pistol. You run into the cave and the 'camera', again, doesn't follow, a loud 'click' goes off, then a scream and it fades to black. (remember all this time it is sillouetted against a setting sun) (try to ignore the fact that this goes in and out of first person perspective, it's easier this way)
6 - Merciless assasin same as 5 but this time he gives the clip in the pistol a check, it's empty, he jumps to the ground and searches for the clip, he finds it, loads the gun and runs into the cave. A shot goes off and he runs out, a huge monster is following, it is bleeding, then it falls. The soldier then runs back through the cave and comes out the other side, monsters now hot on his tracks. He then trips and is swarmed and killed
7 - Valiant fighter As he comes out of the cave he looks down and sees another little souvenir, it is an smg, you pick it up, start running backward firing into the pack of monsters, you then reach a large castle, you throw down the smg and start sprinting for the gates, they are locked, he gives them a shake then starts to climb them, the rest of the monsters follow, you follow the path up the hill to the front gates of the palace and you are shot down by a hidden force.
8 - Lord of the rockets As you run up the path you see the glint of a gun in a window of the palace, you pull out your pistol and in a few shots the shooter is dead, he falls out of the window, you detour to his position and take his gun, it's a gauss rifle. You holster your pistol and take it, you turn it round and use the butt to bash down the front door of the palace, you sprint up a hallway with the monsters on your trail, you see a throne at the end of the hallway, he stands up and points, all of a sudden a dozen soldiers are up at arms pointing miscellanious guns at you. You raise your hands and drop your weapon, you are then shot down.
9 - Warlord When the gaurds aim their guns at you you jump out to the side and get behind a large pillar (this is all done in shades of black white and grey to add to the mysterious effect) Bullets pound into the pillar, when there is a short break you pop out and start firing apon the enemie soldiers, you count there is 6 of them, you take out 2 in you pop out with the gauss rifle, the bullets start going off again, you get back, they are walking around and soon you will have nowhere to hide, by now the monsters have entered the hallway, they start to attack the soldiers, they are overwhelmed and are soon dead, you then run for the king at the end of the hallway gun blazing, he then raises a pistol and shoots you dead.
10 - death itself As you charge for the king he raises his pistol and pops off a few shots, you dive behind a pillar and keep running along the left side of the corridor, you are both firing, eventually, the king runs out of ammo and produces a large sword and starts charging at you with it, he swings at you and you easily dodge it, you then duck another swing, jump up into his gut launching him into the air and from there you hold up your guns and shoot him 3 times before he hits the ground, at that moment the monsters stop eating the soldiers and stop to look at you, they then bow and you drop your weapons and fall into the throne, which is dripping with blood. It then fades black and some cool message comes up saying you have unlocked some super awesome game mode and some ool weapons. omg, that took ages

Okay, IMO storyline should be in the form of quests centering around a different world with a different goal each, and with little or no connection between them. The ranking at the end of levels\quests\game sounds like a good idea too me. As for ending cutscene\cutscenes: I think you're all taking it too far. A Max Payneish graphic novel would be easier to make and would look cool I believe. And if anything like that was put in the game it could be at the end of quests. I don't mind if there's a story as long as it doesn't interrupt the killing.

what the hell does a king have to do with this. other than that i liked it. i still have this vision of the cutseen somewhat like the avatar standing on a pile of dead spderoids and other main units. he then turns to the east and sees a massive army of aliens charging towards him in the distance. he pulls out his pistol and fires. the sceen blacks out. then you could do it on hardcore where you get karma points.

This whole thing is based around the idea that it's a sick gameshow, he would be the dude in charge of it all. Kinda like shao kahn from mortal kombat. Or, more recently Shang Tsung

I just had the mos AWESOME idea, tell me what you think. You're a dark assasin/ninja turtle or something and you've been sent to hell to prove yourself worthy of going to ninja/warlord/whatever heaven. Each quest is merely a test. It would also open up the way for demon creatures and large bosses/gods. Although I don't want it to be some religious peice of crap, just a basic outline of a story.

sounds cool, but, your story leaves no place for CL2 related games, like my tanks or for CL1 (i wanted them to stay as close as possible to storyline of CL1, CL2.)

Think again, I've got you covered. You are sent to a hellish place, all you have is a tank. And the rest goes from there ;D btw, I seriously doubt Tero will even see these ideas let alone use them.

That;s what I was thinking. He's told me before that he's read them. But I don't think he'll even have a story, or if he does he'll make up his own. I mean, nobody here has really put in a huge 2-3 hour effort to write one that we coud ask him to consider to use.

I say we should all write one. Not too long, maybe 10 missions, and send them to him, and ask him to use them. That would let him decide if he wants to use one of ours, or write his own, or not even use one.
