I think if you have two weapons, say a sword and pistol, you would shoot with one hand(primary) and swing with the other(secondary).

So the sword cant be used on its own, right? That's what I asked.

in my opinion the sword could be a wepon all on its own or a second wepon (they would both work out fine in my eyes). but there should be a secondry wepon catagory for stuff like grenades or throwing wepons and/or other miscallanious items.

That's what I meant. Except the grenades. I never said grenades.
Each weapon can be used indepentantly, but with two different fire buttons. Make sense?

makes sense but I want grenades and other secondry wepons as well. to make the game more intense.

So you have two weapon slots which can support two small weapons, guns and\or swords, or a big (two handed) gun or sword, and operate them by two separate fire buttons. Like Halo 2, right?
I always seem to have trouble understanding you Damocles.

I'm sorry. My doctor says that about me too. Or at least, he used to.
That's what I meant, only I didn't want to say anything about Halo. Damn halo and halo 2. In fact, damn microsoft for buying Bungie out.

heh, messing with same problems as Tero... "but I'd just want to get the game done, not to spend my life optimizing it I'm just a one guy anyway..." secondary weapons: shield, knife, throwing things, etc.. knives work similar to monster attacks. very very important thing : minimap more multipickable perks. more basic monster types, not only lizards, spiders, aliens, zombies, add sth else (skeletons for example, demons, robots). let's made storyline for CL2 quests based on some side quests, sth like adventure mode (Damocles, ask for some sort of example quest so we could do the rest) shooting buildings, stationary weapons like Heavy mg in some places. pets working for you. i wish i could help Tero, maybe my "poor" programming skills would be useful sometimes... EDIT: more bonus games, secret weapons, riddles, and balloons fun-stuff. bonus levels. Water as one of terrains. heavy assault modes multi-player development tips: there are 5 variables needed for each monster to send to client (+2 for doctor perk): monster type, monster frame-number, x position, y position, direction of monster. server could calculate visibility of them and send only those visible, eh? but you probably known it before. which net library is Tero using? Ask for it. and send him best wishes! EDIT2: several layers of background, foreground, visibility limited (can't see anything behind the wall or BIG monster) 3d maths are hard to keep, so should be splitten between server/client. but, let's say there would be only 16 bytes per every monster, bullet, explosion, pick-up: monster limit 500, bullet limit 500, and 500 explosions/pickups; 2000*16bytes=32kilobytes what would mean about 1,4 fps for 56kers (i have no idea what will be the limits, and how many things will server send to client else) client to server packet = screen resolution; bool type array for keys pressed,or sth like that, let's say 20 bytes.

Water would make AI programming tough. Limitied vision or fog would be very nice.

You can e-mail Tero. His work mail is public info. Just go to www.10tons.org. I only ask that you don't spam him.

i say: preserve the gameplay, but build on it. Crimsonland 1.9.8 has refined gameplay and efective graphics, avoid very drastic gameplay modifications. if it's 3d, it should be 3d like in total annihilation, still very top-down, but more detailed. as is, i don't think the benifits outwiegh the additional design time and steeper sys spec reqs, so 2D or nothing. if you keep rush mode, refine it. It's far too abrupt as is, there's really no time to use any tactics in it. if you could fiddle... raise the average game time from 35 seconds to a minute-ten or so, but with the same basic premise, i thinki it would be a lot more fun. more like a 'last stand', and less like a 'suicidal assault' More weapons, of course. a couple of seemingly overpowered guns would be nice (nuke launcher?). of course, for sometrhing like a nucke launcher, it'd have to be a tiny clip and long reload, but it'd be cool. more secret guns. whee. we like the shrinkifier 5K, we like the blade gun... but is that all you've got, tero? that riddle for the blade gun? that's how easter eggs are supposed to be. Perks, Perks, Perks. We've run up a nice list of perks and weapons here: www.reflexive.net/reflexive_forum/viewtopic.php?t=1138browse through, some of them are pretty balanced, some of them are pretty cool and wouldn't be hard to balance. i trust that each adn every one of mine will be implemented, of course. otherwise? all I can suggest, what with me not being a game designer as all, is don't mess it up. keep the basics of Crimsonland there, but refine it. I would be much happier with Crimsonland v 2.0 rather than Crimsonland II. keep that genuinely fun, bloody gameplay intact, and i'm happy.

Water would make AI programming tough. Limitied vision or fog would be very nice. I think limited vision wouldn't do any good for the game. it would only make it harder to see powerups, and waht's it gonna hide otehrwise? if tehre's fog there, do you REALLY wonder if or not there might be a giant swarm of aleins there? it would just be annoying, i think.

You have a point there. It just looked nice in my head but yes, I don't really think it would do anything.

I'm a old player from Argentine, and Crimsonland is one of the greatest things in my life. My computer is not a modern computer, with 3d accelerator and high speed. So, the best thing of the game is the simplicity; This game has got everything a vicious shooter/action player wants. If the game requires a new super computer and a lot of space, the game will lose the simplicity. My feith is with Tero, but I want LA MISMA JUGABILIDAD (I donĀ“t know how to say it in english).
I am waiting for CL2
PEACE AND LOVE..........................AND CRIMSONLAND
