I agree with hellfire, there should be a secondry weapon category which uses the right click to use. This would include swords and other thrown objects like molov cocktails and grenades. BUT, I think their should be a dual weild perk which allows you to pick up another one handed weapon and set it as your secondary weapon. (By holding shift or something when you pick it up). Some more creative bonuses would be nice, no one has seemed to mention them. I've got no ideas at the moment. Swords, you should start with a crappy little dagger then you could just swap it for a better one. The graphics should stay simple and 2d, it's easier for Tero and would help him concentrate on the gameplay. Also 3d graphics would put down the max monster count, destroying any chance of there being a rush mode. Well, I'm fully against 3d graphics. As for fog and limited visibility, I think there should be another monster that attracts fog so you can't see exactly where it is. Some HUGE boss monsters would be nice, like raiden. Enemies with guns would be cool too. Also, if there is destructable terrain (I realise there may not be) enemies should be rigged up to take cover or run away if they are being totally OWN3D. I like the flashlight idea a lot but it has its flaws. In the end it would be irritating. I think it would do a lot of good a a secondary mode. Like, dark suvival or fog monster survival. Also, with the devil and skeleton idea, I reackon they should emerge from the ground. Or grab your legs and stop you until you struggle free. There should be LOADS of weird easter eggs and mysterious secret guns and riddles. I reckon there should be a multiplayer fortress mode where you and your friends (online) have to defend a small building's (fortress') power core in the centre from endless (or not) hordes of monsters. I love the idea of mounted guns. And I think Crimsonland should stay as far away as possible from vehicles. (snipping it at the bud) NPCs are a bad idea, they always lead to crappy levels where you have to keep turning around and protecting your people, or the 'solution', they are made invincible and you let them do all of the work for you. Some RIDICULOUSLY powerful and slow weapons are in order and so are some extra stat windows. Lol, this took me 20 minutes.

I just thought of something. What if there were a made where you were the monster? It might suck, becaus eyou'd need to be tougher, but it would be unique.
And Tero said there would be some destructables in the game, or something like that. I don't remember, but I think he liked the idea.

Minigame where you control the hordes against an AI trooper. Not too much potential in this except if it's designed nicely.

It'd be good if it was done like picmin. You control a large pack of monster which flock to the mouse and you use the keyboard directional buttons to tell them which side to spread out on e.g if I'm holding left #= mouse *= monster

i get your meaning, but i think it would ruin the gameplay... it'd have to be a totally different, indipendantly developed title to have violent-pikmin...
unusable god-weapons would be cool, like super-nuke launchers that clear the screen and hurt you at the same time... splitterguns style.
i'd like to see more modular perks, like regeneration-greater regeneration.
i want three campaigns.. an easy.. to unlock mediocre guns... a normal, and then a hardcore, for the really cool, powerful-but-awkward weapons,. like the splitter. you'd have to beat one campaign to moemonto the next... and amybe have a few missions that are unique to each campaign....

lol, violet pikmin. Anyway, that whole god gun thing is a good idea is a good idea. You're right about the whole no monster control things, it would require too much work and in the end it'll just take away from the basic arcade gameplay

yeah, I agree with the whole god gun thing. Also you're right about the whole monster control thing, it wuld require too much work to be good and would eventually take a away from the awesome arcade gameplay. Also, I think an escape mode would be cool where you have no weapons jst have to run away. I'm mean on the scale of type 'o' shooter not like survival.

just thinking. we have differant guns but also why not have differant style bullets. i mean we already have poison bullets and uranium bullets and fire bullets. but why not have (like wepons) u pick up differant types of bullets e.g. freeze bullets, electro charged bullets, instant death bullets. all of thease have a percent chance of doing something. think of this lesss of a perk and more a differant type of weapon.

Tracer bullets, and stuff like that? That'd be kinda cool.

no, i think he means more along the lines of powerups, for whatever gun you have, your bullets have a x% chance of some special effect for a limited time (freeze, instant death, whatever) like firebulelts. you can already SEE the bullets.. so tracers wouldn't be mcuh use. but yeah, totally, more bonus types would definately mix up the gameplay. perhaps a powerup to make any gun you have get an ion weapon-style splash? with Ion rifle area of effect, perhaps?

Like my old idea of ion freak the perk where all wepons have a small (or small chance of performing a large) ion shock except in bonus form. I know I've said this before but we really need to concentrate more on powerups, anyone got any ideas? I was thinking of a air strike perk where the whole screen is littered with small bombs. A flash perk would be cool that every 10 seconds a 30 degree ark of light comes out stopping every monster in it for 10 seconds. Oops, i should post this in the cl2 forum.... Oh well.

eh. this is as much a brainstorm thread as any, but by all means post it there, too.
howsabout a laser burst bonus, that, when yoy step on it, fires 4 or 5 all-penetrating, narrow lasers in random directions? that'd be a really cool effect, without being unbalancing
or, an extended clip bonus (or perk?) that gives you some percentage extra bullets (or a minimum number for low-magazine weapons) for the current clip, or for all reloads if it's a perk... of course, an extended clip bonus would reload your gun..
in 5.1HC, i was often frustrated as i would pummel one grey mosnter with most of an SMG clip, only to have him duck behind an ally as he was about to do... if certain enemies would do this deliberately, working in small squads sharing a common AI, perhpas... that would be neat, for boss levels perhaps.

that'd be awesome in boss levels if the weaker monsters flocked around or behind the boss or other larger monsters, of course then they'd stop chasing yu. It's be hard to do. Also, a really common bonus that makes your gun's ammo infinite for a while would be cool, but afterwards you have to reload. A perk that extends the ammo bar and lengthens the reload time would be cool. Like every extra bullet = bullet power divided by whatever seconds. I can't seem to put it in the right words.....

reload time=standardreload*(1+overloadedbullets/(clipsize*2)) and, to reload those extra bullets, you would have to keep reload key pressed.

nah, holfing it down would suck, I reckon the extra reload time is punishment enough

Post by yanpl on Dec 26, 2005 15:58:46 GMT -6
i think you misunderstood me; i mean reload time will remain the same, but if your ammo is full and you'll hold reload key you will OVERLOAD your gun. for example: ion cannon reload time is 3 secs, it haves 3 bullets in clip. So, overloading one bullet will take 0.5 sec . but, if it's your favourite weapon, it will take 3.0*(1/(5*2))=0.3 sec. (If your clip was empty, it would look like this: 3.0*(1+1/(5*2))= 3.3 sec) that is what i were thinking about....

So you press it, then you hold it for however many seconds afterward the normal reload time for that amount of bullets. Although there'd have to be a max or you'd be able to have HUGE clips.

my idea was that yes they have a % chance of something BUT there not treated like powerups. there treated like new wepons that work with your gun. you dont get them via perks (unless you had random bullets). they can be picked up like wepons and stay with you untill you die or pick up another type of bullet.
also tracer bullets could be used. a chance of homing

That'd be cool, like a shotgun bonus pickup that makes your gun explosive or splitting ( only once per bullet) or even spread like a shotgun.
